Q. What is the cost of the tour?

Q. What is included in the tour?
A. The tour includes ground and air transportation within the country, lodging, several meals, a Belizean tour guide, introduction to our preferred real estate agents in each area, visits to many of the popular new developments, a meeting with an attorney, immigration official, bankers, and the Belize Tourism Board’s presentation of the Qualified Retired Persons Program.
Q. Who should take this tour?
A. Anyone considering retiring, relocating, living or investing in the country of Belize.
Q. Do I need a passport to travel to Belize?
A. Yes. All citizens must have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in Belize. Please visit: http://travel.state.gov/ or your country’s equivalent for additional information on passports and visas.
Q. Do I need to change currency when I arrive?
A. No, U.S. dollars are widely accepted in Belize. Most major credit cards and travelers checks are accepted at the hotels and restaurants in the areas we will be visiting. Many of the smaller stores and merchants will only accept cash (U.S. or Belize). ATM machines are available in most areas. Check with your financial institution for fees and anti-fraud measures for use in foreign locations.
Q. What is the exchange rate?
A. $1 US dollar is equal to $2 Belize dollars.
Q. What time zone is Belize?
A. Belize is in Time Zone GMT6 or US Central Standard Time. Belize does not observe Daylight savings time during the summer months.
Q. Is medical assistance available?
A. Medical care for minor ailments is generally available in most urban areas. Pharmacy services are generally good in larger towns where many medications such as antibiotics may be obtained over-the-counter from licensed pharmacists.
Serious injuries or illnesses often require evacuation to another country. We strongly suggest you obtain traveler’s insurance and medical evacuation coverage in advance to cover unexpected medical emergencies.
Q. Is the voltage the same for electricity as the U.S.?
A. Yes, 110 volts.
Q. Are there any travel advisories for travel to Belize?

Q. Who should NOT take this tour?
A. Persons with serious medical conditions, those subject to motion or car sickness, or those with limited mobility or anyone with extreme food allergies. If you are unsure and would like to discuss your personal situation please contact us.
Q. Will my cell phone work in Belize?
A. Cell phone coverage is pretty good in most of the areas we’ll be traveling. We recommend checking with your cell phone provider for instructions and rates prior to your trip. Cell phones can also be rented while in Belize.
Q. Is wi-fi available?
A. many of the hotels and restaurants have free wi-fi available however the speeds may be much slower than what you’re used to.
Q. What type of hotels will we be staying at during our trip?
A. Belize is not like Cancun or Jamaica. A large hotel in many areas will be owner operated with 10-15 rooms. The hotels we stay at will vary with each trip depending upon dates and availability. The rooms will have clean linens, private bathrooms, hot & cold running water, and air conditioning. Not all hotels will have a TV or telephone in the room. A full itinerary including the hotels will be provided to our guests on the first day of the tour.
Q. When should we book the flight?
A. Since there is a minimum participation requirement for each tour we recommend holding off on purchasing airline tickets until you receive confirmation of the tour dates. Travel insurance is recommended.
Q. Can we extend our stay beyond the dates of the tour?
A. Of course! Many of our guests like to extend their stay. Why not visit the Mayan Ruins or go cave tubing and zip lining in the jungle? We offer a special stay over “Best of the West” tour package. We can also prepare a custom tour based on your needs so let us know what you’d like to do and we’ll help plan it for you.
